Destinations Covered : Guwahati – Kaziranga –
Majuli – Jorhat – Sibsagar - Dibrugarh
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Arrive at Delhi and transfer to the hotel. Overnight
at hotel in Delhi.
Day 02 : Delhi
Breakfast at hotel and proceed for visit of Delhi
city. Visit Red fort and mosque at Old Delhi. In the
afternoon visit New Delhi. You will visit president
house, India Gate, Humayun Tomb and Qutubminar.
Day 03: Delhi - Guwahati
Morning after breakfast transfer to Delhi Domestic
airport to catch a flight for Guwahati. Upon arrival
in Guwahati you will be met by our representative
and transferred to hotel. Guwahati is the gateway to
the entire Northeast region of India and also a
major commercial hub. Located on the southern bank
of mighty river Brahmaputra, it was known as
Pragjyotishpura (the Eastern City of Light) and
mentioned in the great epic Mahabharata. Evening
visit Srimanta Shankerdev Kalashetra, a multi art
complex portraying the rich cultural diversity and
life of Assam as well as the North East region. This
art complex has been named after the greatest
Vaishnava saint and integrator of the Assamese
society Srimanta Shankerdeva. Welcome dinner at a
specialty restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04 : Guwahati – Sualkuchi – Hajo - Guwahati
This morning visit the famous Kamakhya Temple. This
temple dates back to the Vedic and the Puranic times
and is the center for Tantricism. Legend has that
Kamakhya came into existence when Lord Shiva was
carrying the corpse of his wife Sati, and her ‘Yoni’
(female genitalia) fell to the ground at the spot
where the temple now stands. The temple is a natural
cave with a spring. Then drive to Sualkuchi village
(32 kms/ 1 hour), also called as the Manchester of
the East and famous for its Assam Silk industry.
Muga - the beautiful silk of Assam that has a
natural golden color is woven here. Visit a silk
industry and see how the famous Assamese silk
mekhela sadar’s (Assamese Saree) are weaved.
Thereafter proceed to Hajo (30 mins), a pilgrimage
center important for the Hindus, Muslims and the
Buddhists. Visit the Hayagriya Madhab Temple sacred
to both Hindus and Buddhists. Also visit the Powa
Mecca (1/4 th Mecca) a mosque built by Pir
Ghiasuddin Aulia and is believed that the foundation
of the mosque partly comprises of some earth brought
from Mecca. Thereafter visit the ruins of the Madan
Kamdev temple and then drive back to Guwahati.
Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Guwahati - Kaziranga
Today drive on to Kaziranga National Park (230 kms/
5 hours), a world heritage site and famous for its
one horned rhino. On arrival, check in at the
Resort. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
Day 06 : Kaziranga
Get up very early in the morning for an exciting
elephant ride. Enjoy the ride through the Park for 1
hr. to appreciate the beauty of famous one horned
rhino, wild elephant, Indian bison, swampdeer,
samba, hogdeer, etc up close. After breakfast, Jeep
safari inside the Central range of the park. This
drive is an ideal introduction to the park and its
ecology as the route passes through the entire
spectrum of habitat types prevalent in the area.
There is a possibility of sighting elephants as well
as the other Mega herbivores, Swamp deer etc.
Afternoon go on another Jeep safari inside Western
range of the National Park to enjoy the wildlife of
the park. The route traverses the southwest portion
of the park. This range has maximum short grass
areas and is the optimum habitat for Rhino and Water
Buffalo. Part of the drive is also through Low
Alluvial Savannah Woodland. A round of the entire
circuit is around 20 km. High herbivore densities
around these wetlands are characteristic of the
habitat. Evening traditional cultural dance in the
resort. Dinner and overnight at the resort.
Day 07 : Kaziranga – Jorhat - Majuli
After an early breakfast drive (96 kms/2 hours) to
Neemati Ghat for your ferry ride to Majuli, one of
the biggest inhabited river islands in the world. A
2 hours downstream boat cruise will take you to
Majuli nestled between Subansiri and Brahmaputra
river, famous for the Assamese Vaishnavite satras or
monasteries, the Mishing tribals and also for the
migratory birds that come here from different parts
of the world. On arrival, traditional Mishing lunch
on the island. Thereafter visit a Mishing tribal
village enroute passing through Mishing tribal
houses that are typified by being built on stilts
and their ‘long house’ style of design. Thereafter
visit the famous satras (monastery) of Majuli. These
monasteries where set up by Srimanta Shankerdev, the
leader of the Vaishnavite revivalism in the 16th
century. These monasteries nurture the traditional
dance of ‘Satriya’, (which is a national dance of
India), music, crafts such as mask making besides
religious teachings. Enjoy a traditional cultural
dance program at the monastery. Dinner and overnight
at the Mishing Chang.
Day 08: Majuli – Jorhat – Sibsagar - Dibrugarh
Early morning a 2 hours boat ride will take you back
to Neematighat and then drive (55 kms/ 1 hour) to
Sibsagar, the ancient capital town of the Ahom
kingdom, who ruled Assam at a stretch of 600 years
before the reign of British. The ancient temples and
monuments like Ranghar (largest & oldest
amphitheatre of Asia), Karenghar, Talatalghar, Siva
Dol (one of world’s tallest shiva temple), etc. can
be seen. After lunch at Sibsagar, drive on to
Dibrugarh (80 kms/ 2 hours). On arrival, check-in at
the Heritage Tea Chang Bungalow. Dibrugarh is the
main tea town of Upper Assam and a main commercial
place with historic importance. Farewell dinner at a
specialty restaurant. Overnight at the Bungalow.
Day 09: Dibrugarh – Delhi - Abroad
Morning visit a tea plantation. Watch how tea leaves
are plucked and you can also try plucking tea. Know
about the process of tea manufacturing by visiting a
Tea Factory. Thereafter transfer to airport for your
flight to Delhi. Arrive at Delhi. Transfer to hotel
for day use near to international airport. Later
transfer to international airport to board the
flight back to your home country.
